Deadly tornado kills 8 in Oklahoma
Thursday, February 12, 2009
It is unfortunate and devastating to hear of such a tragedy. The vagaries of Mother Nature really astonishes the unsuspecting victims, sending them to their "airy-grave". I feel really fortunate to be in Singapore where there are no such catastrophes. I guess it is considerably disturbing to be walking down the street and worrying if the ground is going to split into two parts or if a gale is appraoching. But life still has to go on. It is very unfortunate though. So many major incidents in a week. Australia's wildfire.... Terrorist attacks... Earthquakes.... and a tornado... tomorrow is Friday the 13th......

I agree, the effects of Mother Nature can be devasting. However, it cannot be stopped or prevented. The only thing we can do is to predict when and where it will strike, and evacuate the area before that time.
One way, I believe, is to follow the animals. It has been reported that some time before the disaster happens, animals have been seen to behave strangely. I remember there was one case, a tsunami I think, some time before the disaster sturck, fish started jumping in an out of the water for no apparent reason, dogs howled and hid beneath furniture. Some animals even made their way to higher ground. I think it is because the animals sensed danger approaching and reacted to it.
